Since this is the last New Moon of the year, it represents an accumulation of experiences throughout our journey through the Medicine Wheel and now we go within and honor the teachings we’ve received and shared throughout the year. Obsidian is such a mysterious stone, it absorbs energy and holds it until it can be released. Personal experience of an obsidian ball we kept at home, it finally dumped everything out and I got really ill. Bury it or wash with running water, sage is also excellent! So let it be our intention, to CLEAR all negative energies we may be holding on (our or others).  It is vital now, our temples need the cleanse of sacred smudging.  The medicine of Elk is Black Spruce, the aroma is so healing and strong! You can also have a soothing cup of tea from this, it has the properties to loosen mucous and relieves congestion.

The power of the Thunderbird Clan (Fire sign) represents the ego and the “creative fire within” to manifest goals. New Moon require this “fire in the belly” energy to accomplish these dreams and visions. I light a blue  candle on this New Moon, for peace of mind and clarity. Thunderbird shows us that the EGO is there to remind us of WHO we really work for, helps us get back on track when we listen. It has been said that “you cannot have the light without the darkness behind it”, the EGO gives us that choice and we say THANK YOU, without the tests, how do we know where our strengths and weaknesses are? Attitude of Gratitude is the way, it’s there right in front of us all the time! Elk medicine carries with it perseverance of always reaching for solutions to any problem and solving them!

Today the planet Uranus (Higher Guidance, Intuition) went direct and remains in Aries (warrior energy) and is Red Hawk power. If we take the time to “circle around” a situation and view it from a Higher perspective, we will get a bigger picture! Let that be our prayer for this time we’re in. From the view of Hawk, we can SEE there is only ONE Earth Mother and we are ALL her children. We are ALL in this together, we can use this warrior energy to activate that desire to resolve conflict and separation … to embrace ALL OUR RELATIONS in ONENESS, LOVE & PEACE.

Here we have this big beautiful Full Moon and it is a time of Harvest … what are we “reaping” from the seeds we’ve planted this year? This is generally when we socialize with our friends and neighbors (Sun in Libra) and share stories, food and friendship before the season changes to winter. Time (personally speaking) seems to be an illusion lately, whose TIME are we using anyway? Many of us are so caught up in the frenzy of the coming 2012 predictions or elections or ??? Well, Earth Mother shows us the cycles and what we need to do IF we just slow down and listen (my feeling knowing says we will one way or another!)  The energies are strongest 3 days before and 3 days after the Full Moon. FEEL the energies of this Moon and LISTEN to your own inner knowing. We call this “feeling knowing“, it’s trusting what our inner self says rather than what everyone else is saying! That’s a big one NOW, there’s so many opinions and “stories” about what will be! Lots of FEAR traveling around, but what if it is there to help us jump to the next level?? To clear all those illusions we’ve been caught up in.

The Sun in Libra (Raven) with its black body suit is a Guide to help us through the darkness, through what our deepests fears are and point to the LIGHT showing us the way to wholeness, to balance … to Oneness.

As humans we love stories; they help see from another perspective and that’s what we intend to do with the myths of astrology and the Medicine Wheel, to share a story/myth and how it affects each of us individually and within the “tribe/community”.  Now the Planets are also involved in this great dance! The Planet Uranus (sudden surprises, unexpected actions, erratic possibly volatile and Spirit consciousness) is conjunct (within 3 degrees of each other) of this Moon.  It magnifies and intensifies the energies, we can witness this through so much confusion and violence going on in the world. Astrologers are all talking about an aspect called a T-Square, we’re looking at Sun/Moon-Uranus, forming a T with Pluto, which is like holding the whip! Pluto (transformation) is heralding in a “dissolution” of outdated Capricornian (Snow Goose) traditional value systems. Snow Goose doesn’t like change, they go to the same breeding grounds every year and usually mate for life. Yes, things are changing since Pluto went into Capricorn (Jan 2008-Nov. 19, 2024). We’re all seeing this with the young ones and their set of values differing so much from the more “established” generations. Our “social matrix” is changing and our choice NOW is to get clear and simple how we’re going to ride through this. It IS the caterpillar transforming into the butterfly for some and there are other choices that each person will have to make for themselves and their families.

Thunderbird. Remember the story how Thunderbird got so puffed up with ego that he never gave credit and was warned to be more aware and stop being so selfish. Now, even thought he has so much to say and share, he can’t be heard directly or seen, credit goes to intuition of Great Spirit! AHO! I feel we must TRUST we are all here NOW by Divine choice. For many we agreed to come NOW and be part of this transformation. If you are reading this, you’re probably one of us that volunteered to be here. What does your “feeling knowing” say? This is such a awesome time to have this conversation and “see” it in the bright light of this powerful Moon. Remember Red Hawk is known for its keen and focused vision (eyesight), it circles around and checks everything out before swooping down for its catch! Hawk doesn’t miss much!

Here we are finishing the teachings of the Sun in Leo (ends 8/21) and we have a new beginning as well with this New Moon in Leo. Just to refresh your memory, review the Medicine Wheel Astrology teachings for LEO:

The New Moon is a time of magic … the dark void where we are creating our next reality. While in a state of awareness and gratefulness we will have an opportunity for creating our wishes in this next cycle. Everything now is about the HEART and how we’ve used this energy of LEO. Did we “Shine” in a good way while in the spot light or did we let ego (Coyote) bring shame and misunderstandings. Did we want credit for our actions and didn’t get it? (Thunderbird). Yes, the lessons of gratitude, humility and deep LOVE are all here in this teaching. Sturgeon didn’t get old and wise for nothing! AHO!

Enjoy all the delicious ripe berries now, for as we approach the next cycle we need to be ready. As we move into VIRGO, we’ll have a chance to “see” what our actions have been … who I AM (Aries), what I HAVE (Taurus), how I COMMUNICATE (Gemini), how I FEEL (Cancer) and how I SHINE (Leo).

My prayer this New Moon is that we wake up to each other and remember that we are ALL the same, there is only ONENESS and how much we really LOVE ALL OUR RELATIONS! AHO!

Moon through the medicine wheel

New Moons represent new beginnings, it is a time to plant our seeds and allow them to grow.  FYI: New Moons are always in the same sign as what the Sun sign is, Full Moons are always the opposite sign, the mirror. Aries (me, I, I AM) opposite sign – Libra (we, complacency, Oneness). The polarities are strongest now, each with a story of why the “me” is more important than the “we”, Libra says don’t make any waves and upset the status quo, keep the peace! (often stuffing those feelings) – Aries says let’s go for it, we are powerful warriors with determination to win at all costs! They’re often stepping on toes while focused on goals.  Now bring in Mercury retrograde, representing going back to look at contracts, discussions, communications of all kinds and now Uranus, representing sudden, unexpected actions, lightning quick, flashes of intuition and Divine Higher Mind access. Indeed, this could be an intense power play or a big wake up call. Big Winds, floods, Earth Mother moving, it’s getting our attention for sure. Uranus will be in Aries until March 5, 2019, we will be letting go of old outworn ideas, we cannot hold on to anything material, this is a spiritual energy. It is a choice that every individual part of the “I AM” will have to make, “ALLOW MORE … LIMIT LESS” is working for us as a prayer. Palms up, surrender to Great Spirit knowing that everything is serving. That’s a huge leap of faith but it seems the only way to really balance this energy. Our choice is: Do it NOW or do it LATER, we will have to let go of the control, there’s too many other energies at work creating this scenario to ignore this message.

Part of the opposition is about the balance of Saturn (Master/Teacher, facing our fears) in the sign Libra (scales of justice). Libra (Raven) is admired for tribal loyalty, connecting with light and dark polarities, humans and nature,  shadow work of our deepest fears and peace of mind. We call upon Raven for awareness of those around us, protection from fire and dark energies, for wisdom and confidence.

The group consensus reality (the group dream) will tell the story, what does the “me, me, me” want or  perhaps we can access the “I AM” of Peace, Love and Oneness with respect for all of life, to ALL our relations. AHO!

From what I get astrologically, The Council of the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Uranus has a very simple (Aries) message. Aries represents the childlike nature we have on the position of the wheel. As we start out from the East with Wabun (Golden Eagle) it is birth, courage for a NEW DAY, open to the adventure. As the buds are opening on the trees, we are also opening to the light of the Sun to warm us, the Moon to inspire us from within our soul’s longing, with Mercury, to be able to speak our truth from a balanced place, “centering the self, rather than being self-centered”, with Uranus, tapping into our Divinity and Higher Mind, a gift of intuition.

We are waking from slummber, the BIG WINDS MOON of Pisces (Cougar) has shaken things up and we’ve entered a new place on the wheel.  We step into the next position, The BUDDING TREES MOON, with Red Hawk (Aries) who doesn’t miss much! We call on this ally, this hunter Red Hawk, with its keen eye sight and awesome power, to help us find what we need to honor the “self” in balance. We call upon the Thunderbeings, their creative FIRE within, sparking our souls to hear what Great Spirit has to say and sharing that truth with others. We are putting aside ego and a need to be the center of attention, giving credit where due. We call forth from the mineral kingdom the Fire Opal to enliven our spirits with its magical colors of the rainbow, to aid us in being “Rainbow Warriors” for Spirit and Truth.We call upon the medicine plant Dandelion to cleanse our bodies of toxins and energize us with that brilliant golden yellow color. AHO to ALL OUR RELATIONS!

One of the teachings of this planet is that of duality; night/day, left/right brain, male/female, good/bad … FEAR OR LOVE. Make your choice, we can’t do both. Which Master do you serve? The medicine wheel is a magical guide to that  place within each of us that helps us access our power! Today, we make ceremony honoring  fire, earth, air and water, uniting Father Sky with Mother Earth, within our hearts.  May we set our intentions on walking in balance with gratitude for this earth walk and all these experiences to evolve our Spirits!
